The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has finalized the schedule for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2021-2022 school year.

The schedule for the 10th grade entrance exam has just been announced by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, eligible candidates for the 10th grade entrance exam in the city are students who have graduated from junior high school in Ho Chi Minh City within the prescribed age range. Therefore, students who do not have a Ho Chi Minh City household registration but attended junior high school in Ho Chi Minh City are still eligible to take the exam.

Candidates will be allowed to register three priority choices (1, 2, and 3) for admission to 10th grade in public high schools (excluding Le Hong Phong Specialized High School, Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School, and the High School for the Gifted of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City).

This year, the number of subjects for the 10th grade entrance exam remains unchanged: Vietnamese language and literature, mathematics, and a foreign language. However, the time allotted for the foreign language exam has increased from 60 minutes (last year) to 90 minutes; the time allotted for the Vietnamese language and literature and mathematics exams remains at 120 minutes.

The new feature this year is that the scores for the math, literature, and foreign language exams all have a weighting of 1, instead of multiplying the literature and math scores by a factor of 2 as in previous years.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the admission score is the sum of the scores from the three exams plus additional points for priority candidates. Successful candidates must have taken all three exams and not received a score of 0 on any of them.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training further stated that, due to changes in the scoring method for the 10th grade entrance exam this year, the English exam will have an increased time limit, and the number and length of questions will also increase.

However, the difficulty level of the questions remains unchanged. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training maintains its stance on designing the 10th-grade entrance exam to test candidates' ability to apply knowledge and solve real-life problems.
