Given the complex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, several 12th-grade students have now contracted COVID-19. Many students and parents are concerned about the Ministry of Education and Training's solutions in case a student is unable to take the high school graduation exam due to contracting COVID-19.

Addressing this issue, Mr. Mai Van Trinh, Director of the Quality Management Department (Ministry of Education and Training), stated: For candidates who are COVID-19 patients requiring treatment and unable to take the exam, according to current regulations, they will be granted special consideration for high school graduation.

This case is similar to other special circumstances such as accidents, illness, the impact of natural disasters, epidemics, and other unusual situations that prevent candidates from attending the exam; in such cases, candidates will be granted special consideration for graduation.

According to Mr. Mai Van Trinh, given the complex COVID-19 situation, the Ministry of Education and Training has considered a scenario where the exam will be held in safe localities (those not under social distancing measures).

At the examination sites, examination rooms will be arranged for candidates classified as F1, F2, and F3. Candidates classified as F1 will be provided with protective clothing and a separate examination room. Candidates classified as F2 and F3 will also have appropriate arrangements and receive support from medical personnel to ensure the exam takes place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.

If necessary, the Ministry of Education and Training will coordinate with localities to organize additional examination sessions. To implement this plan, the ministry has proactively built a question bank that ensures sufficient quantity and quality to create exam papers that meet the requirements for organizing multiple examination sessions.

Regarding this year's exam preparation, the Director of the Quality Management Department further shared: Knowledge content that has been simplified due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will not be included in this year's exam. The exam will consist mostly of basic-level questions, while also including a reasonable number of difficult questions to differentiate the results of candidates (especially for high-scoring candidates such as those scoring 9 or 10 points).

To make it easier for candidates to answer the questions, the exam questions are arranged from easy to difficult. Schools should closely follow the sample exam to guide students in their revision.

With the published sample exam structure, the results of the high school graduation exam are not only used to determine graduation eligibility and assess the quality of education in localities, but also to effectively differentiate the results of different groups of candidates, helping to accurately assess their academic performance and serving as a basis for most universities in their admissions process.
