There is a special moment in the life of every medical student: the day they are officially entrusted with the sacred responsibility of their profession – the first day they wear their white lab coat. The white lab coat – a symbol of compassion, responsibility, and dedication – is not merely clothing, but a reminder of the noble mission of those working in the healthcare industry. On March 14, 2025, more than 100 students from the Health Sciences Faculty of Viet My College donned that sacred white lab coat for the first time, ready to embark on their journey of "saving lives and helping others.".
The lab coat ceremony was attended by the Board of Directors, representatives from various departments, and lecturers from Viet My College. Filled with pride and emotion, Ms. Tran Thi Quy – Deputy Head of the Health Department – shared with the students: “"Wearing the white lab coat signifies embracing willpower, responsibility, and honor—a symbol of dedication and wholehearted service to the people's health. Be proactive, confident, study diligently, continuously improve your knowledge, maintain discipline, know how to behave, be independent and self-reliant, and have a progressive spirit."”
Following the ceremonial cloak-draping, Pharmacy and Nursing students took the sacred Hippocrates and Floren Nightingale oaths, demonstrating their commitment to professional ethics and dedication to public health. This was not just a ritual, but a lifelong pledge to the mission of healing and caring for people.
In addition, the school awarded scholarships to students with outstanding academic achievements and a spirit of overcoming difficulties, including: Huynh Trieu Vy (Class of 23 – Pharmacy), Pham Thi Ngoc Quyen (Class of 23 – Nursing), Bui Thi Kieu Nhi (Class of 24 – Pharmacy), and Nguyen Thi Hong Ngoc (Class of 24 – Nursing). These scholarships are not only a recognition but also a great motivation to help them move forward on their path. Student Huynh Trieu Vy shared: “"My motivation for receiving this scholarship comes from my family and the unwavering encouragement of my teachers. The scholarship helps reduce my financial burden and motivates me to strive even harder in pursuing my dreams.". Vy also sent words of encouragement to 12th-grade students who want to pursue a career in Medicine and Pharmacy, urging them to boldly pursue their dreams, starting by studying at Viet My College.
The 2025 Blouse-Wearing Ceremony at Viet My College is not only a traditional event but also a significant milestone, marking a major turning point in the journey of each Health Sciences student. From today, you are not just students but also individuals carrying a noble mission – the mission of caring for and protecting human health.
