“The "Leadership Bootcamp" is a special leadership training program held annually at Viet My College. It's a traditional "specialty" designed to help students discover, identify, and develop their inner strengths. Based on the program's results, dynamic students with good knowledge, positive attitudes, and professional skills will become key members in student activities and, in the future, high-quality and promising personnel for partner corporations and companies.

""

When we are ready, opportunities will arise.

Each year, the Leadership Bootcamp (LB) attracts a large number of students from across the university. Everyone has an equal opportunity to apply for the training program. You could be a freshman or a sophomore or sophomore. You could also be someone with extensive experience in clubs and teams. Or simply, you're eager to discover yourself and answer this question: Who am I? How far is my comfort zone?

To pass the various preliminary selections before entering the "common home," candidates must be prepared to overcome the challenging tests set by the organizers, with the goal of selecting members who possess qualities such as enthusiasm, ambition, youthful vision, and a willingness to push themselves to the limit to continue the training process for 3 months.

""

Pi Nguyen – Former LB member 2016, Vice President of Student Council 2017 shared:“For him, LB is something very special, special in its recruitment process, curriculum, instructors, and especially in its students and the results achieved. He joined LB because he felt he needed an activity that would help him understand and listen more, which was essential for him, especially after graduating from university. He has worked in a service environment for quite some time. The people he interacts with daily are not only customers but also young employees. Therefore, he needs to understand what young people like, what they do, and what their responsibilities are in their work. Through LB, he has the opportunity to interact and work more with young students. He learned valuable lessons and experiences not only from the instructors but also from his "teammates." They taught him how to listen, how to empathize, and, most importantly, how to open up when facing difficulties. And he believed that was the key to his future career.“".

Ms. Tran Thi Xuan Truc – Customer Relations Specialist at Viet My College (former LB member 2017) said:“When I was in school, I was very shy and didn't dare participate in school activities. But when I saw my classmates balancing school with extracurricular activities and organizing many great events, I was instantly captivated. So I decided to apply to be a volunteer and that motivated me to learn LB. Of all the members that year, only I was in the 2015 cohort, preparing for my internship; the rest were younger students. But I wasn't discouraged and persevered because I had a great goal and motivation. Thanks to LB, I stepped out of my comfort zone, learned to observe, work in teams, and become more patient in problem-solving. That's the problem. Before that, I didn't dare to do anything or express my opinion because I thought I wasn't as good as others. Truc thinks that if it weren't for LB, she wouldn't be who she is now—stronger, more willing to try new things, and giving herself opportunities to grow.”.

How long does it take, and what factors are involved, for coal to turn into diamonds?

Each "warrior" attending this training course has their own specific goals. Some come because they hope to find themselves. Others start because they crave success and conquest, because they dream of having their names on the payroll of prestigious corporations… Whatever the reason, we are all embarking together on a journey to rediscover ourselves and become better people.

""

So what will I gain from participating in the Leadership Bootcamp?

Over more than 12 weeks of participation, members will experience a wide range of emotions. The first six weeks correspond to six themes and valuable lessons, helping you discover yourself and build inner strength to always find the 'fire' within yourself, spreading it to your teammates. No matter how difficult or challenging the circumstances, even when feeling discouraged or losing your passion, you will always remain steadfast in your passions and dedication. This kind of resilience is not easily cultivated. Therefore, through building and developing a positive student community, Leadership Bootcamp is a place for you to proactively and rigorously train yourself before truly facing the big waves. Understand that "the price of discipline is far less than regret," don't let yourself drift aimlessly and not belong to any framework. The concept of "Leadership" here is oriented towards self-understanding. It is a journey of cultivating an awareness of one's role within the collective, along with a humble attitude, a willingness to listen, learn, and embrace all changes and transformations within the organization.

""

After being provided with foundational skills to solidify internal values and basic knowledge of project implementation processes, participants will complete a small assignment each week before the start of the next training week. From the initial "hands-on" guidance, the coaching staff will gradually loosen their grip until participants can confidently and independently design a complete program from start to finish, and then test and evaluate the results of their personal development. Knowledge from various subjects is skillfully integrated into each stage of the projects and incorporated into the member evaluation process. Participants will experience teamwork, accepting differences in common goals, planning, and coordinating team members according to the plan. Fundamental knowledge of human resource management, organizational behavior, fundraising and financial management skills, report writing, emotional management skills, etc., are all put into practice at various levels. As Robert Horry once wrote: “"Pressure can break pipes, or pressure can create diamonds."”. Of course, balancing classroom learning with the pressure of completing projects in LB is no easy task. It requires a great deal of effort, perseverance, determination to fulfill commitments, time management skills, and prioritizing tasks according to each stage…

Opportunities are open to everyone. Whether you want to be a blazing "flame" or a dry, smoke-filled stick burning through your life... it's all your choice.

""

Ms. Nguyen Thanh Nga – Content Advisor for the Leadership Bootcamp program – shared: “Our greatest ambition is to create a ripple effect. Simply put, we hope that each participant in the program will be like a drop of pure, pristine, radiant, and vibrant water, quickly spreading their energy and belief to other students in the school. Happiness is the wonderful experience of growing together with your teammates every day. We will gradually strengthen our values, become more resilient in our skills, mature in our understanding, and become those who ignite the flame of love for younger generations.”.

The Leadership Bootcamp 2019 is scheduled to take place from November 2019, with many surprises awaiting participating candidates.
