With the current COVID-19 pandemic in many localities, the anxiety of candidates is further increased.

Take the exam in safe conditions.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Dinh Phuong Duy, all localities are currently reporting that they are urgently preparing the best conditions to ensure the safety of the exam, as directed by the Prime Minister.

“Many measures will be implemented to ensure the safety of candidates, such as disinfection and social distancing, so you can rest assured. Organizing the exam in two phases is also a solution to ensure safety. Regardless of which phase you take the exam in, you will be guaranteed the same rights and will be considered for university admission according to your registered preferences.”.

"In my opinion, this year's exam will be easier and won't trick candidates. To alleviate this anxiety, candidates must first prepare a solid foundation of knowledge to feel confident when entering the exam room," Mr. Duy emphasized.

According to Ms. Hoang Thuy Nga, M.Sc. – Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) – to achieve good exam results, candidates need to pay attention and prepare well before and on the exam day. Before the exam day: firstly, they need to prepare mentally and keep their minds relaxed.

There have been several cases where candidates, due to stress from studying all night before the exam, overslept, missed the exam, or fell ill and were unable to continue. Therefore, before the exam, students need to pay more attention to their health, rest, do things they enjoy, or engage in sports to relax and go to bed early.

Secondly, carefully check what items are and are not allowed in the exam room. Thirdly, prepare all necessary documents, pens, and supplies: notification letter, graduation certificate, exam card, citizen identification card (CMND)... and other necessary items should be put in one bag to avoid losing them.

On the day of the exam: candidates should arrive 15 minutes before the exam time to prepare mentally. Before starting the exam, candidates must fully fill in their registration number and personal information on the exam paper, answer sheet, multiple-choice answer form, and scratch paper.

“"Upon receiving the exam paper, students must carefully check the number of pages and the quality of the printed pages within 5 minutes. If they find that the paper is missing pages, or is torn, damaged, smudged, or blurry, they must immediately report it to the invigilator in the examination room.".

"For combined science and social science exams, it is important to ensure that the component subjects within each science or social science exam have the same exam code," Ms. Nga advised.

3 factors that help you reach peak performance.“

According to psychologist Dr. Dao Le Hoa An (founder of the 4.0 career guidance application JobWay), to achieve the best exam results, one needs to reach peak performance with three factors: psychology, health, and knowledge. "With only a few days left until the exam, this is not the time to focus on intensive studying and reviewing because the brain has already reached a state of 'saturation.' Instead, candidates should spend time gently reviewing important notes and common mistakes made during practice.".

Additionally, some items that aren't prohibited by the regulations but are very effective include a bottle of water (with the label removed) and a few chocolate candies. When feeling anxious, a sip of water can make you feel more alert and refreshed. Chocolate candies contain sugar and caffeine, which can provide an immediate "brain stimulant," restoring energy to the brain.

"You need to prepare a transparent plastic bag (file bag) containing all the necessary items (two pencils, a pen, a calculator, your ID card, your exam notification slip, etc.) and keep it ready. Don't wait until the morning of the exam to frantically search for them; it's easy to get discouraged," Mr. An advised.

Regarding nutrition and health advice for exam preparation during the pandemic, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hanh – Head of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department at Hoan My Saigon Hospital – advises candidates to maintain a regular lifestyle: eat meals on time, sleep at regular times, exercise regularly, and relax when tired…

Eat a variety of green vegetables and fresh fruits to provide your body with vitamins (oranges, grapefruits, apples, ripe papayas, kiwis, ripe mangoes, watermelons, dragon fruit, broccoli, bell peppers, pumpkins, carrots, tomatoes, various leafy greens...). Drink enough water every day. It's best to sip water frequently throughout the day to keep your throat moist. Maintain good personal hygiene and wash your hands regularly.

“Always carry hand sanitizer to use when needed. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Break habits like biting pencils, picking your ears, or rubbing your eyes when stressed. Instead, you can take small sips of water, which will make you feel better,” shared Dr. Minh Hanh.

(Source: Tuoi Tre newspaper)

On August 9th, students will officially begin the 2020 high school graduation exam.
