Currently, parents and students still hold many misconceptions about college-level education, limiting their understanding of the quality of learning available at this level. This article will address some of these misconceptions about college-level education, thereby helping future generations of students develop a more accurate and open-minded view of this formal education system.

Having a college degree is a disadvantage when looking for a job. This is the most common misconception about college-level education. According to Mr. Truong Anh Dung, Director General of the General Department of Vocational Education and Training, Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2020, the employment rate for college and vocational school graduates reached 80%, demonstrating the high demand for labor at this level in Vietnam. More notably, an increasing number of businesses are proactively partnering with colleges, both for collaborative training and to actively recruit talent, even providing internships for second-year students. With a training period of only 2-2.5 years, college students are equipped with knowledge and skills earlier than university students and can start working immediately upon employment.

Is an associate's degree really less valuable than a university degree? According to Dr. Le Thanh Mai (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), "Companies and businesses now often don't evaluate candidates based on academic qualifications but value knowledge, skills, and especially work attitude, listening skills, and a proactive attitude.".

So how can we properly orient ourselves for our future?College is not a "fallback option" if you fail to get into university. College is a path you must walk to reach your destination and achieve success. Remember, it doesn't matter who you are; as long as you have a learning spirit, any place can be a "school.".
