1. Always focus on the positive aspects.
Although aware of bad news, people with high emotional intelligence make smarter decisions by not spending too much time and energy on problems. Instead, they focus on the positive aspects of any situation and seek solutions to the problems that arise. Such people always focus on what they can do or control.
2. Spend time with people who think positively.
People with high emotional intelligence never spend too much time listening to complainers and tend to avoid contact with negative thinkers. They are always aware that negative people will only waste their energy. People with high emotional intelligence don't let others dampen their spirits. Because people with high emotional intelligence always look for solutions and the positive aspects in every situation, negative thinkers will quickly distance themselves from them because negative people only want others to think negatively like them.
People with high emotional intelligence tend to spend time with those who think positively and always look on the bright side of life. You can easily recognize such people because they tend to smile a lot and attract other positive people. Their warmth, openness, and caring attitude make others view them with more trust.
3. Know when to set boundaries and be assertive when necessary.
Although their friendly and outgoing nature might make those with high emotional intelligence seem easily swayed by some, they are actually very assertive and know when to set boundaries. They consistently demonstrate politeness, kindness, and thoughtfulness, while also being firm.
They never create unnecessary enemies. In situations where conflict is likely, their behavior is always measured, not excessive, and controlled appropriately for the situation. They always think before they speak and give themselves time to calm down when emotions are agitated. People with high emotional intelligence know how to protect their time and commitments. They know when to say no.
4. Always think about the future and let go of the past.
People with high emotional intelligence are so busy thinking about future opportunities that they don't have much time for things that didn't work in the past. They are always learning from past failures and applying these experiences to future actions.
5. Always look for ways to make life more joyful, happy, and interesting.
Whether at work, at home, or with friends, people with high emotional intelligence always know what makes them happy and always look for ways to cultivate those feelings. They feel comfortable and fulfilled when they see others happy and content, and are willing to do everything they can to bring others a good day.
6. Use energy wisely.
Not only do people with high emotional intelligence know how to move past setbacks, but they also have the ability to overcome conflicts with others. They don't let anger over how others treated them overwhelm them. Instead, they learn from the experience to prevent it from happening again. Their motto is: "If you cheat me once, it's a shame for you; if it happens a second time, it's a shame for me." Although they always know how to overlook and forgive, they never forget and are very difficult to be taken advantage of a second time in similar situations.
7. Continuously learn and develop towards independence.
People with high emotional intelligence are lifelong learners, constantly developing, evolving, and open to new ideas, as well as always willing to learn from others. Being thoughtful and considerate, they are always open to change if someone has a better idea. Although they are always open to ideas from others and constantly gathering new information, people with high emotional intelligence have great confidence in themselves and their own judgment when deciding what is best for them.
