On the evening of July 15th at the New World Saigon Hotel, Viet My College in Ho Chi Minh City was extremely proud of the achievement of Nguyen Quang Trung, born in 2001 – a student of the 23rd cohort of the regular college-level Hotel Management program. He was one of only two college-level students to reach the final round of the I-HOTELIER 2024 competition, competing against strong contenders from many renowned universities in Ho Chi Minh City specializing in hotel management..
The average and group photos received honorable mentions in the competition.
The 2024 I-HOTELIER competition attracted many outstanding students from all over. Trung shared that he wanted to test himself in a large-scale competition to further develop himself in his field and major. Trung believes that the 2024 I-HOTELIER competition is a place where he can learn more experiences and new knowledge related to his Hotel Management major.
Before the competition, Trung researched extensively about the I-HOTELIER 2024 competition and previous years. He focused on improving his lacking skills, conducting in-depth research on new trends in the industry, and performing numerous practical exercises to enhance his expertise. Throughout the preparation and participation in the competition, lecturers from Viet My College organized extracurricular meetings to train and support Trung wholeheartedly.
Trung also stated that to maintain his spirit and confidence throughout the competition, he always maintained a positive attitude and constantly strived to learn. He shared that he felt grateful for the support from his family, friends, and the lecturers at Viet My College who were always ready to support and help him a great deal.

When asked about the most challenging part of the competition, Trung shared that Round 2 was the biggest challenge because he had only learned Restaurant Service skills and a little bit of Bar Service skills, while Front Office and Host/Host skills were still unfamiliar to him. In that short time, he learned quickly and received full support from his teachers and the organizing committee.
The competition helped Trung learn many new things. Trung said he realized that thorough preparation, self-confidence, and the ability to adapt quickly were the most important factors that helped him reach the finals of the I-HOTELIER 2024 competition.

When asked how he felt about surpassing many other excellent candidates to reach the TOP 4 in the final group category and receiving a consolation prize worth over 28 million VND, Trung shared, “I am very happy and proud. This will be a stepping stone to help me become more confident in the future, even though I am only a freshman. And I didn't expect to win a consolation prize because at first I didn't think I would make it to the finals of the competition. And even now, almost a day after the competition ended, I am still very emotional.”
