In the context of the increasingly complex COVID-19 pandemic, online learning is the optimal solution. While not a new format, many students are finding it difficult to adapt. So, what are some tips for effective online learning?
1. Think positively about online learning.
Accustomed to face-to-face learning in the classroom, many students find online learning quite troublesome, difficult, and a hindrance to absorbing knowledge. Because of this mindset, the learning attitude of some students seems to have significantly declined, causing them to start the first class feeling quite confused and unprepared.
In fact, students in many different countries are having to study online due to the impact of Covid-19, just like us, and the difficulties they face are similar. Furthermore, online learning has been popular for about 5 years now because it offers many advantages. For the safety of yourselves, your families, and society, let's adapt!

2. Cultivate a spirit of self-discipline in learning and maintain motivation.
Because online learning is quite relaxed, doesn't require going to school, and instructors and students don't interact directly, it demands a high level of self-discipline from each student. Therefore, students need to "self-manage" themselves in a disciplined manner. Trying to study while doing housework and communicating with others through social media will quickly lead to distractions and significantly affect concentration during lectures.
Online learning also requires a high level of self-study and research. Before each lesson, we need to read the main course materials, supplementary materials, or participate in group discussions with friends to maintain a sense of connection and engagement in learning. Additionally, you should turn off notifications from social media, messages, etc., to focus on your studies.

Students should view online classes just like in-person classes to maintain a sense of responsibility and avoid missing any knowledge imparted by their teachers.
3. Pay attention to your appearance.
Many students share that one way to feel ready, connected, and avoid going to bed is to take care of their appearance before class. Wearing sloppy pajamas and having messy hair can distract and derail your focus. Before class, you should dress neatly and presentably. Also, keep in mind that instructors may require all students to turn on their cameras, take group photos, take attendance, and ask impromptu questions!

4. Create a detailed study plan and prepare lessons before each class.
Whether you're studying online or in person, planning is absolutely essential. For online learning, a study plan is the foundation that helps you easily control what needs to be done and temporarily eliminate tasks that aren't priorities.
To learn actively, students should prepare their lessons to grasp the knowledge and easily understand the material after lectures, breaking down the barrier of online learning which is the difficulty in keeping up with the amount of knowledge taught by instructors in online classes. In this case, mind mapping techniques will be a great tool to practice this.
Always take thorough notes, prepare all necessary materials, and take notes on sticky notes or on your electronic devices. Additionally, students should review the material after each class and expand their knowledge by reading additional resources. Always meet deadlines and cultivate a strong sense of responsibility while studying online!

5. Always maintain good health.
Given the challenging pandemic situation, we need to proactively take care of our own health by eating a balanced diet; drinking water regularly, at least 2 liters per day; dedicating 30 minutes to an hour to exercise; getting adequate sleep; etc. Students should wake up early and start the day with positive things like listening to music, drinking their favorite beverage, talking with family, etc., to be mentally prepared.
It's very important to maintain a positive attitude by limiting your exposure to negative news, watching your favorite movies, reading books, or connecting with friends through group chats or online networking rooms.

6. Choose your ideal study corner.
A study area is incredibly important for concentrating and absorbing knowledge, so choose a place that is well-lit, quiet, clean, and tidy. Avoid studying in your bedroom, on the sofa, or sprawled on the floor, as these positions easily lead to sleepiness. Even if you live in a small room, try to arrange a fixed location and create a private space for your "classroom." Many students share that they study in their own room, choose a quiet corner in the living room, or go out to the yard or garden to find the quietest and coolest spot.

7. Prepare your internet connection and practice using online learning tools thoroughly.
For online classes to run smoothly, we need a stable internet connection. If you're using 3G or 4G, subscribe to a high-capacity data plan for a stable connection. Also, always ensure your devices like laptops and phones have sufficient battery power during class.
For those of you using your phones for online learning, you should:
- Learn how to log in and familiarize yourself with the interface of the websites you will be learning online, such as Google Meet or Zoom.
Above are some effective online learning tips that students can apply during this period of social distancing. Hopefully, you will find the most suitable method for yourself to have truly effective online classes.
Wishing you all a new school year full of energy!
