APC: Hi, could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Thuy Nhu (TN): Hello. My name is Thuy Nhu, and I'm studying Business English Translation and Interpretation, class 5163VLB01. I'm currently the president of the English Club at Viet My College, which has been active since its establishment in March 2017. I'm a cheerful, easy-going, and generally pleasant person. My hobbies include listening to music, reading books and stories, and traveling. I'm especially funny, a little crazy, so I also enjoy some crazy things like experiencing the wild or trying new and unusual things.
I have two strengths: Firstly, I'm quite confident in public, so it's easy for me to fit in. Secondly, I'm a very good listener and have a rather mature way of thinking, so those who are close to me often confide in me when they're having difficulties. Although I'm extroverted, I'm also very straightforward and don't know how to use flowery language to please everyone; I think that's my weakness.
I have my own lifestyle and my favorite motto in life is "Be the change you wish to see the world".

APC: What motivates you or what are your goals in studying Business English Translation?
TN: I have many life goals. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I want to do and try everything in life. But because I really love languages, I chose to study Business English. Besides, isn't English the leading language in the world right now? So I just went ahead and studied it. The important role of English, combined with my passion, is what motivated me to choose this field.

APC: What do you enjoy most about studying at school and participating in club activities?
TN: First of all, let me be frank. If you've read this far, you probably think that if I praise too much, it's just PR for the school, right? Let me share my thoughts: every environment has its strengths and weaknesses, but take a few minutes to think about it. Everything should come from both sides, right? Our school is open-minded, and generally, we have quite a few events, training courses, and talk shows for students. Regarding the teachers, I wouldn't dare say that all 100% are equally good, but most are very skilled, dedicated, and especially know how to create a lively and effective learning atmosphere. A big plus for me is that the school has empathetic teachers who are willing to listen and dedicate time to students when needed. As for the facilities, you can probably see how good they are just by visiting. Air conditioning, projectors, and desks and chairs are all very well-equipped. A huge plus for me is that both the classrooms and restrooms are very clean, creating a comfortable atmosphere. The reason I like being in the English club the most is that I can develop myself and build more connections with other students, but I also hope to receive feedback from them. Remember what I just said: anything good needs to come from both sides. If the school provides you with opportunities but you don't reciprocate properly, you obviously won't find it beneficial. That's why I'm involved in the English club and I enjoy it.

APC: What led you to join the English Club, and what were your expectations when you joined?
TN: It's true that everything happens for a reason. Initially, my reason for joining the club was very simple: I wanted to challenge myself, give back what I could, and learn teamwork, event organization, and related skills. At that time, I hoped that this work would help me improve my English, make me more active and integrated with others, and allow me to interact and learn from many different people.

– APC: As a club leader, what challenges have you encountered?
For example: I've faced many difficulties. Imagine having to adapt and work with 10 people, each with a different personality, to create a cohesive and harmonious team, and most importantly, to always be cheerful and get along well. It's incredibly challenging. Everyone's personality, work style, way of thinking, and ego are completely different. But that didn't defeat me because I have, am, and will continue to do well. It's a challenge and an experience for me, and I've gotten used to it without even realizing it.

– APC: What are your plans for developing the English Club? Are there any exciting events coming up that you could share with everyone?
TN: From August to October, the English Club will be organizing a get-together to introduce new students to each other, helping everyone feel less shy and more friendly. We also hope to collaborate with students who are interested in learning and contributing to the school's activities in the field of English. So, come join the English Club and help develop activities for everyone!

APC: So, what challenges did you face when balancing your studies, club activities, and part-time job?
TN: The biggest challenge is still time. It takes me an hour and a half to drive to school, and I still have to make sure I'm absorbing the material well in class. I need to dedicate my time to studying as effectively as possible while still having time to meet, share, and plan events and activities with the other members. Furthermore, I also need to work part-time to earn personal income and experience the difficulties of making money and the challenges of the real world. But for me, I'm young, and I only live once, so I'll give it my all and try my best; a little hardship is okay.  

APC: So, amidst those difficulties, who were the people who stood by you, helping and encouraging you?
TN: I tend to keep personal matters to myself to avoid projecting my negative feelings onto others . But sometimes, when I'm really tired, I talk to my mom about my studies. Oh, and at school, there's a teacher who's always willing to help and listen to me (who it is is a secret) . I don't have a boyfriend yet, so that's all for now *sad*. 

APC: Do you have any plans for yourself? At least plans for after graduation?
TN: My plan is to learn another language before graduating. After graduation, I'll try to get a job at a foreign company working in business partnerships, tourism, or maybe education because I love children. I'll gain about two years of experience and then try a higher-level position. After 8-10 years, I'll accumulate capital and become my own boss, living the life I want. When I reach that point, I also want to have my own charity organization to ensure that children can go to school. Dreams are often difficult to achieve, but I always set them as goals to strive for.

APC: Thank you, Như. I hope you continue to maintain that positive energy and achieve success in life! Thank you for chatting with me.
