That was the overarching message of the "Career Orientation in Nursing" workshop held on September 24th.
Under the inspiring guidance of our two speakers:
- Ms. Le Thi My Hang – Founder and CEO of An Ban Social Enterprise, Wakeup Schools Vietnam, and International Mindfulness Training Specialist.
- Ms. Tran Thuy Khanh Linh – Head of the Nursing Department, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City.
In just one morning, nursing students experienced a range of memorable emotions. They witnessed the "telling statistics" about the shortage of nurses and saw the wide-open doors to their future as the demand for nursing personnel increases daily.
Simultaneously, you will hear real-life stories about the work pressure that each nurse faces and how to handle real-life situations. Lessons learned from experienced teachers will be invaluable, helping each nurse to be more confident on their journey to pursuing their passion.
In particular, with the presence of speaker Le Thi My Hang, nursing students of Viet My College were introduced to a very new subject: Emotional Management.
Emotional intelligence, through the practice of mindfulness, is still a relatively new concept in Vietnam, but it is extremely necessary for high-pressure jobs such as that of a nurse.
Through the sharing of Ms. My Hang, combined with the participants connecting and practicing meditation exercises to balance Body, Mind, and Spirit right at the workshop, they understood "mindfulness" and mindful responses, thereby controlling personal emotions and behaving calmly and rationally.
More importantly, you are taught positive values and practice specific situations in patient care, gradually understanding your own emotions; and step by step, understanding the psychology and emotions of patients.
Through this workshop, future nurses have been equipped with crucial knowledge to become excellent nurses. Understanding the profession, understanding themselves, and empathizing with others are the "lever" that will help them go further. on the journey to fulfill the sacred and noble mission of the medical profession.
