Singapore Trip 2016: A memorable journey of experiences.

THE EVENT HAS ENDED

With a practical approach to education, teachers from Viet My College, along with nearly 20 students, embarked on an incredibly exciting and memorable experiential trip to Singapore, one of the cleanest, most beautiful, and civilized countries in the world. Through this enriching trip, the students gained a better understanding of the country and its people, as well as the remarkable advancements in culture and education. Furthermore, they had the opportunity to hone valuable skills for integrating into a foreign country.

Under the guidance of Mr. Duong Tran Minh Doan and the teachers and staff of Viet My College, the trip started smoothly. Upon arriving in Singapore, the team members had the opportunity to use one of the most modern public transportation systems: the MRT – the subway. The students had the chance to broaden their horizons by learning to read maps, understanding the lifestyle of the locals, visiting museums, and immersing themselves in the traffic culture of a country as highly organized as Singapore. After the initial moments of unfamiliarity, most of the students were able to adapt. The first day of the trip passed with excitement and anticipation of new experiences.

On the second day, after gathering together to share their feelings about their first time in Singapore, the students had a meaningful visit to a Vietnamese teacher working at NUS and also interacted with two students there. The students from Viet My College had the opportunity to learn about Singapore's advanced education system and get a sense of the challenges and competition at one of the country's top universities. In the afternoon, they once again practiced using the MRT to visit notable locations in Singapore such as Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay… and especially enjoyed the unique and colorful light show in this Lion City.

On the third day, the team members continued their tour of the NTU – Nanyang Technological University campus, visiting notable university landmarks such as the library and cafeteria. Most were impressed by the modern and well-designed facilities. In the afternoon, they had the opportunity to visit Sentosa, a leading entertainment area in Singapore, and enjoy frog porridge – a famous local specialty that no visitor should miss.

On the fourth day, the students had another opportunity to share their feelings about the trip. Almost everyone had had wonderful experiences over the past few days. Afterwards, everyone had the chance to enjoy shopping in the malls. This was a great opportunity to practice their English-language negotiation skills. In particular, Mr. Minh Doan helped the students learn about the cultural diversity of this island nation by visiting prominent religious sites in Singapore.

The trip to Singapore ended with a touch of regret, as perhaps four days weren't enough for the students to fully experience the country and its people. However, we are confident that this trip provided them with wonderful and memorable experiences, as well as broadened their horizons considerably. After the trip, Ms. Thanh Nga, one of the lecturers who shared the four-day experience with the students, offered some insightful observations: “Singapore’s belief in its “human resources” is immense, and they are willing to act on that belief. Singaporean students enthusiastically organize volunteer activities right on campus in a spontaneous, selfless manner, and their only hope is to see a vibrant Singapore today and in the future.”.
And you, is your belief strong enough?
"Go outside, open your eyes wide and look at the world, so you can return confident in the choices you've made."”

Hopefully, in the future, there will be many more trips like this, so that teachers and students of Viet My can have valuable experiences together.
