The teacher sent a message to the parents: "Your child failed the exam. Please think of your child, not your own pride!"

“"The school your child attends is not a reflection of your parents' pride. If exam results are unsatisfactory, parents should be the ones to support and protect their children."”

On the very day Ho Chi Minh City announced the 10th grade exam results, Mr. Vo Kim Bao, a teacher at Nguyen Du Secondary School in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, shared some words of encouragement with students and parents during this time of anxiety, tension, and worry.

Advise students to behave tactfully in order to achieve good results.

As a teacher, he shared that he was also very worried and thought a lot about it. He wondered how his students and so many other students would react when they saw the results.

To the students who achieved the desired results, Mr. Bao congratulated them and hoped that he would be the first person they shared the good news with. He also wanted to remind them of one thing: Not everyone gets what they want like you do, so please be tactful in your interactions with your friends!

Regarding students who did not achieve the desired results, Mr. Bao expressed: "What you wish for may not necessarily be the best thing for you. When one door closes, another opens. The future is wide open, and you still have many opportunities like everyone else.".

But they will certainly be upset. Therefore, the first people they need to contact are their teachers. Homeroom teachers or subject teachers are always the best people to give them advice. They understand their students' psychology, know what they think, what they need, and what they should do.

If necessary, teachers can also talk to the parents to find the most suitable solution together. Teachers will help the students "express what they want to say" to their parents.

Secondly, you should stay away from social media for a few days. As soon as the exam results come out, social media will be where high-scoring students show off their achievements. Will you be happy then, and will your mental state be stable?

Or, if you also had a score that wasn't what you hoped for, you can share your sadness. I'm already sad and don't need any more negative emotions.

Third, get rid of the thought that your high school is your pride and joy.

Teacher Vo Kim Bao told his students that although he himself didn't attend a top-tier school, he had the privilege of learning from some very good teachers.

“"We have many ways to express ourselves. But expressing ourselves by treating the school's name as our personal pride is a serious mistake! And finally, let this be a lesson to help you try harder and strive more. This exam isn't everything in your life.".

Grades are not as important as a child's growth and development.

Teacher Vo Kim Bao also sent a message to parents, who share the same feelings as their children in anxiously awaiting exam results.

“I hope that parents will be there to support, guide, and protect their children if things don't go as planned. In this situation, the child is the one who is most upset. And grades are certainly not as important as the child's happiness and growth. The school the child attends is not a matter of the parents' reputation either.”, "The teacher confided.".

Parents love their children more than themselves, so Mr. Bao hopes that parents will guide their children towards joy and happiness to help them grow and thrive in all circumstances.

Many students burst into tears after learning their exam results.

On July 27th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the results of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2020-2021 school year. Some teachers reported that many of their students burst into tears immediately after learning their scores. Many students contacted and inquired about private schools, and were also worried, as many schools had already finalized their applications.

Ho Chi Minh City has approximately 100,000 ninth-grade students. Besides those who have proactively chosen different paths, nearly 82,000 candidates participated in the tenth-grade entrance exam held in mid-July. With a target of nearly 67,000 students for public tenth-grade classes this year, almost 16,000 students failed the exam.

Mr. Le Duy Tan, Head of the Secondary Education Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said that facing success is a lesson, but facing failure and difficulties is an even more valuable lesson. Moving forward, there are always many paths, many bright paths that suit one's individual needs.

Both students and parents should avoid limiting themselves. Never assume that there is only one path and thus make things difficult for yourself. Seeing many paths will give you optimism and a sense of direction. Parents need to encourage their children, helping them to be confident in their chosen path and strengths.
