Top industries predicted to be the "hottest" in 2019.

Finance and investment, sales, software, cybersecurity, e-commerce… are among the "hot" sectors that recruitment agencies predict will have high hiring demand in 2019.

Ho Chi Minh City has the highest recruitment demand in the country.

According to the 2018 Recruitment Demand and Labor Supply Report and 2019 Forecast by VietnamWorks, an online recruitment portal of Navigos Search, the top 10 industries with the highest recruitment demand in 2018 were: sales, finance - investment, administration - secretarial, information technology - software, marketing, accounting, customer service, Internet online media, construction, and information technology (IT) - hardware/networking.

Ho Chi Minh City has the highest recruitment demand in the country, followed by Hanoi, Binh Duong, and Da Nang.

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Mai, CEO of Navigos Search, further informed that the competition ratio for the procurement, materials, and supply chain sector is the highest, at 1/82. This means that for every one person seeking this job, they have to compete with 82 others. Next is human resources at 1/73, administration and secretarial at 1/68, and accounting at 1/66. Hung Yen province has the highest competition ratio at 1/59.

Finance – investment, sales, tourism, software… will rise to prominence.

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Center for Forecasting Human Resource Needs and Labor Market Information in Ho Chi Minh City, observed: “In 2019, labor demand is closely linked to the development speed of Ho Chi Minh City. Industries such as software engineering, information security, e-commerce, digital marketing, architecture and construction, tourism… will develop very rapidly, with a very large demand for labor. State-owned enterprises will recruit many personnel in economics, finance, and engineering. Private enterprises, currently with over 300,000 companies, will also focus on attracting personnel in these fields.”.

More specifically, according to VietnamWorks' forecast after surveying businesses, the top 10 "hot" industries in 2019 are: Finance - Investment, Sales, Administration - Secretarial, Accounting, IT - Software, Marketing, Customer Service, Auditing, Internet - Online Media, and Construction.

“The majority of employers surveyed indicated that their recruitment needs will increase in 2019. Most of them forecast this demand to increase by 10-30% (%). However, there is a possibility of a surplus of human resources in the near future in the wholesale-retail, planning-project, procurement-supply-logistics, and advertising-promotion-public relations sectors. This is because these sectors are not among the top 10 fastest-growing labor sectors,” Ms. Nguyen Phuong Mai further commented.

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan advised that if graduates cannot find a job in their field of study, they can shift to other professions that are in demand in 2019. The important thing is to always be diligent in researching, learning, and being proactive to adapt; then they will surely find a good job with a high income.
