Meanwhile, the total enrollment quota for about 100 public high schools is nearly 66,000. Therefore, after August 21st, when the Department of Education and Training is expected to announce the cut-off scores, approximately 16,000 candidates will not be admitted to any of their desired schools.
The enrollment quota for specialized classes at Le Hong Phong, Tran Dai Nghia, Gia Dinh, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Nguyen Huu Huan, and Mac Dinh Chi specialized high schools is 1,645 students, while a total of 6,500 candidates registered their preferences for these schools, resulting in a competition ratio of approximately 1/4 for specialized classes.

Following the conclusion of the 10th grade entrance exam, based on the ease of the exam questions and the students' performance, many predicted that the cut-off scores for 10th grade admission in Ho Chi Minh City might increase compared to the previous year.
A student taking the exam at Trung Vuong High School (District 1) predicted that this year's scores would be higher because the questions were relatively "easy." There will be many perfect scores in math because even the last question in the geometry section wasn't as difficult as in previous years. Based on this, the student predicted that the cut-off scores for grade 10 will definitely increase.
Ms. Pham Thi Xuan Oanh, a teacher at Le Van Tam Secondary School (Binh Thanh District), said that this year's exam questions were compiled in accordance with the Department of Education and Training's announced "What is taught is tested." The difficulty level is lower than last year, so there will be more students scoring 7 or higher. Specifically for English, students applying to specialized schools can easily secure a score of 9. This teacher predicts that scores for top-tier schools will increase because the applicants generally have above-average academic abilities, while the exam questions are at a manageable level for most students.
Similarly, Mr. Dang Huu Tri, a teacher at Nguyen Du Secondary School (District 1), assessed that the overall difficulty of this year's exam for the three subjects was relatively easy for students. Therefore, the cut-off scores may increase sharply at Group 1 schools such as the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's Practice High School, Bui Thi Xuan High School, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, etc., by 1.5 - 2 points. Group 2 schools such as Le Quy Don High School, Trung Vuong High School, Luong The Vinh High School, etc., will see a slight increase of 0.5 - 1 point; the remaining schools may see an increase of 0.25 - 0.5 points.
