82,600 candidates registered for the regular 10th grade entrance exam, while the total quota is 65,300, so it is expected that more than 17,000 students will not be admitted to public high schools.

This is based on statistics from the Department of Education and Training regarding... register aspiration For candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam, May 4th.

The schools with the highest number of applicants are: Trung Vuong High School with 1,349 applicants (675 quotas); Bui Thi Xuan High School with 1,219 applicants (630 quotas); Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School with 1,564 applicants (585 quotas); Hung Vuong High School with 1,437 applicants (1,035 quotas); Gia Dinh High School with 1,691 applicants (540 quotas); Nguyen Cong Tru High School with 1,519 applicants (855 quotas); Nguyen Thuong Hien High School with 1,484 applicants (450 quotas)...

In the specialized program, nearly 6,700 students applied to 6 specialized schools or schools with specialized classes, with a total enrollment quota of 1,680. In the integrated program, the number of enrollment quotas and first-choice applications were similar, under 1,000 students.

According to the plan of the Department of Education and Training, from May 5th to 10th, students are entitled to... Adjusting preferences registered.

Mr. Tran Mau Minh (former Principal of Tran Van On Secondary School, District 1) said that 9th-grade students can base their decision on adjusting their preferences on the results of the second semester exams and the competition ratio for the schools they have applied to.

To compare with previous years' benchmark scores, students use the scores of the above subjects calculated according to the old admission formula: Literature and Mathematics multiplied by a factor of 2, plus the Foreign Language score multiplied by a factor of 1. When calculating the total score, candidates need to "deduct" 10-15% because the 10th grade entrance exam usually has a higher level of differentiation. Students can also consult with their subject teachers to assess their academic ability for the most accurate evaluation.

Assuming that the candidates' abilities, based on their second-semester exam scores, are fairly similar to the annual cutoff scores for the registered schools, and that the competition ratio this year has not fluctuated significantly, candidates can confidently keep their registered preferences.

However, when the competition is fierce despite similar skill levels, candidates should consider changing their preferences to a school with a lower admission score to increase their chances of being accepted.
