I. Overview of the Fashion Design Industry

The Fashion Design program focuses on fostering students' creative abilities, increasing their competitiveness and uniqueness within the industry. Students have the opportunity to:

• Fashion collections, from the idea generation stage.
• Develop technical documentation for production.
• Fashion illustration for advertising
• Producing finished products.

The main topics of the course include: an overview of the elements/principles of the design industry in general and the fashion industry in particular; the use of specialized tools and machinery; pattern and fabric design, building and developing fashion product lines; design marketing; analysis of marketing techniques; planning fashion shows; how to prepare a design portfolio; working with factories and how to access investment/loan sources for starting a business, or building your own fashion brand.

IV. Output Standards

1. Knowledge:

• Demonstrate the basic methods of constructing figures in drawing.;
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of aesthetics, the fundamentals of fashion design, and the properties of materials used in the production of fashion products;
• Describe the characteristics of the morphological development and structure of the Vietnamese human body;
• Present the concepts of Vietnamese culture, customs, beliefs, and viewpoints.;
• To understand the history of the development of Vietnamese and world clothing in terms of materials, colors, and styles through different periods;
• Demonstrate the idea in the design process;
• Analyze the trends that influence the development of fashion.;
• Demonstrate the methods for designing various types of fashionable clothing.;
• Analyze the technological process of producing fashion products;
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of marketing and methods for evaluating the fashion market;
• Explain the principles of ensuring safety and preventing fires and explosions when using equipment.

2. Skills:

• Sketches of the model's figure were created;
• Able to use professional equipment;
• Create and draw clothing designs based on themes and ideas: office wear, casual wear, children's clothing, spring/summer clothing, autumn/winter clothing, ethnic costumes, etc.;
• The drawing should accurately represent the patterns, textures, and colors.;
• Selecting materials that are suitable for the product design;
• Designing various types of prototypes for product manufacturing: thin prototypes, rigid prototypes, etc.;
• To establish an efficient production process for fashion products;
• Complete practical exercises to develop professional skills;
• The application of computer software is used in the creation and design of fashion products.;
• The collection was designed;
• Organize and conduct market research and product marketing;
• The organization implemented workplace safety and fire prevention measures.
• Working independently, working in teams, and applying techniques and technology to the work;
• Providing training, guidance, and mentoring in vocational skills for employees with lower skill levels;
• Find and create your own job or continue your education to a higher level after graduation;
