Schools collaborate with businesses, and students take the initiative in the Industry 4.0 trend.

Close cooperation between schools and businesses, from training to job recruitment, not only opens up career opportunities for students but also builds a high-quality workforce with strong theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This will minimize the opportunity cost of retraining for businesses and create more opportunities for learners. Furthermore, close cooperation between schools and businesses contributes to solving the challenging problem of a surplus of workers while the workforce is short of skilled labor, a significant challenge in Vietnam's socio-economic development.

Close collaboration between businesses and schools – solving the problem at its root.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2018, more than 200,000 university graduates nationwide were unemployed, with the majority working in fields unrelated to their training. Conversely, businesses are desperately searching for high-quality personnel and struggling to recruit and retain employees. One of the main reasons for this imbalance is that training programs do not align with business requirements, and students severely lack soft skills.

Aiming to build an internationally standardized educational environment where students are equipped with both comprehensive specialized knowledge and practical experience, since 2014, Viet My College has intensified its collaborative training programs with businesses. On one hand, the college provides students with specialized knowledge and flexibly adapts its training programs to meet practical demands. On the other hand, the college closely collaborates with and invites leading businesses in each field to participate in teaching, supervision, and support throughout the training process. Furthermore, from the very first semester, Viet My College students are sent for internships and practical training at businesses in the same field. The results of this process have yielded positive outcomes, with statistics showing that for five consecutive years (2014-2018), 96.51% of Viet My College graduates found employment in their field of study within six months of graduation.

Ms. Ngo Nhung, assistant director of Al Naboohdah International Vietnam Co., Ltd., shared: ‘"Thanks to communication practice sessions with foreigners and practical experience at businesses, I gained a better understanding of my field and was able to focus on my studies and achieve my goals. I started internships and working in my second year, and after graduation, I landed my ideal job, one that perfectly matches my passion and career aspirations."’

Vocational training for students must go hand in hand with 'inspiring' them, igniting their passion, helping them define their potential, find their own motivation for work, and develop lifelong learning skills – these are the core values that Viet My College lecturers always guide their students towards. This difference in teaching has contributed to Viet My College students being highly valued by businesses for their serious attitude towards their profession and solid specialized knowledge. Former student of the BTEC HND International College program – Hotel Management – Nauy Asta recently signed a contract with the 5-star Windsor Plaza Hotel after completing a two-month internship there. Nauy shared: ‘"It's truly wonderful and something to be proud of for students trained at Viet My College. After completing their internships at Windsor Plaza, all the students received job offers for official positions there. They are highly regarded by the hotel's management and directors, who regularly organize training courses to give each individual the opportunity to learn and develop further in their profession.".’

Nauy Asta became a full-time employee at the 5-star hotel immediately after completing his internship.

Continue to expand cooperation and partnerships with businesses.

Since the beginning of 2018, the school has successfully signed numerous Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with leading businesses in the fields of restaurants, hotels, translation and interpretation, etc., such as: Golden Gate Trading and Service Joint Stock Company; VFS F&B Autogrill; Vinpearl Joint Stock Company - Vingroup; Daystar Study Abroad Consulting Company; Phu Quy Corporation - PQC… In addition, many businesses have been and are participating in direct teaching and training in some areas of restaurant and hotel management and public relations at the school, such as: Windsor Plaza Hotel, New World Saigon Hotel, Huong Sen Hotel, Dien Quan Entertainment and Media Company Limited, Khang Trading and Service Company Limited,… The close cooperation between businesses and the school has provided students with practical knowledge from practical sessions, visits, and internships at businesses, as well as wide-ranging job opportunities for students from their first year.

In the near future, the school's administration and the business networking department will prepare to expand the signing of more MOUs with domestic and international businesses. This will create more job opportunities for students and help the curriculum become increasingly aligned with the practical needs of businesses.

Representing Viet My College – Master Duong Tran Minh Doan – the school's principal, shared:‘The signing of the MOU between the school and the enterprise is of great significance, especially for students, marking a step forward. A new step forward in collaborative training tailored to the needs of businesses and schools has further strengthened Viet My College's confidence in fulfilling its mission of providing numerous career opportunities for young Vietnamese people. A solid academic foundation, coupled with modern knowledge, skills, and practical experience in various business models from enterprises, is the dedication of the school's human resources management team. These will undoubtedly be invaluable assets for young graduates, enabling them to proactively seize career opportunities in the ever-evolving Vietnamese society during this period of international integration.’
