What score did you need to pass the high school graduation exam in 2020?

On August 9th and 10th, nearly 900,000 students nationwide will take the 2020 high school graduation exam. High school graduation exam scores are always a matter of great concern for parents and students.

Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements, have not been subject to disciplinary action resulting in the cancellation of their exam results, and whose scores in all subjects and components of the combined exam registered for graduation consideration are above 1.0 point on a 10-point scale, and whose overall graduation score is 5.0 points or higher, will be recognized as having graduated from high school.

In 2020, the high school graduation score included the scores of the exams taken by the candidate for high school graduation recognition, bonus points (if any), and the average score for the entire 12th grade year; the score of each exam was converted to a 10-point scale to calculate the graduation score.

Specifically, the graduation score is calculated to two decimal places, automatically performed by computer software.

For example: If your graduation score is 4.99, it cannot be rounded up to 5 and you will still fail to graduate.

If the graduation score is 4.996, it will be rounded up to 5, and the student will pass the graduation exam.

Therefore, to pass the 2020 high school graduation exam, candidates must meet the following conditions:

– Must be eligible to take the exam and not have been subject to disciplinary action resulting in the cancellation of exam results.

– All exams and component subjects of the combined exam registered for graduation consideration must achieve a score above 1.0 point on a 10-point scale.

- Must have a graduation examination score of 5.0 or higher.

Additionally, candidates need to understand the rounding rules for the Literature exam (essay-based exam): the exam is graded on a 10-point scale; fractional points of the total score are rounded to two decimal places.;

For the remaining subjects (multiple-choice exams): round to two decimal places for each exam and each component subject of the combined exam.

For example: If the test score is 4.234, it will be rounded to 4.23; if the test score is 4.236, it will be rounded to 4.24.

The above regulations were issued by the Ministry of Education and Training in Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDĐT.
