Job opportunities are high, but career challenges are also significant.

According to current statistics, Vietnam is facing a significant shortage of healthcare personnel. The country has approximately 81,200 nurses, averaging 1.5 nurses per doctor, while the Ministry of Health's standard is 3-3.5 nurses per doctor. The Ministry of Health's "Table of Human Resource Demand Forecasts by Type of Personnel to 2020" indicates that the country needs an additional 83,851 nurses and 10,887 pharmacists.

Thus, it can be seen that the demand for human resources in these two fields is very high. Especially with the opening of the labor market, Vietnam has been and is collaborating with many developed countries around the world such as Germany, Japan, South Korea… to send nurses to work there with attractive incomes. Also in 2017, major players in the FMCG and retail sectors such as Nguyen Kim, FPT, VinGroup, The Gioi Dien Thoai… also began opening chains of pharmacies nationwide. This is a great opportunity for college-level pharmacists who want to find a career development opportunity in the future.

Pharmacy and nursing students have many job opportunities immediately after graduation.

While job opportunities are abundant, the career challenges in these two sectors are also significant. The Vietnamese pharmaceutical market is undeniably promising, attracting many international companies seeking to invest and expand their market share.

However, in reality, these businesses have yet to solve the problem of high-quality personnel from our country's abundant labor force. The main reason hindering Vietnamese pharmacy and nursing students from joining foreign companies is the lack of foreign language proficiency, while businesses are desperately searching for quality personnel, and those already working in the field lack the confidence to apply. Many experts say that most universities and colleges currently training pharmacy and nursing students in Vietnam do not truly prioritize supplementing foreign language skills for these two fields.

At the same time, graduating students also severely lack the soft skills to empathize with the psychology and emotions of customers and provide heartfelt service. These are the two fields that most need the compassion of pharmacists and nurses – those who spend the most time with and interact with customers.

Aimed at preparing Pharmacy and Nursing students for the trend of international integration.

The shortage of human resources in the fields of Pharmacy and Nursing is not only occurring in Vietnam but also in other developed countries such as Japan, Germany, and Taiwan. According to estimates by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, approximately 2.53 million nurses will be needed by 2025, while the current workforce in Japan is insufficient to meet this demand.

In Germany, the situation is not much better. According to Berned Tews (Director of the Federal Association of Personal Care), Germany will need more than 1 million elderly care nurses by 2030. Following a similar pre-determined scenario, both Germany and Japan are implementing a series of good welfare policies and economic cooperation agreements to attract foreign workers, including those from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

Given the enormous demand for pharmaceutical and nursing professionals in the labor market from developed countries around the world, this is clearly a great opportunity for pharmacy and nursing students in Vietnam. Therefore, choosing a training environment that meets practical needs and effectively addresses the shortcomings of Vietnamese students is crucial for every prospective student.
