What is Information Technology?

Information technology (IT) is a term encompassing software, the internet, and computer systems used for distributing and processing data, exchanging, storing, and utilizing information in various forms. More simply, IT is the use of modern technology in creating, processing, transmitting, storing, and exploiting information.

Currently, the Information Technology field is generally divided into five popular specializations: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Networks and Communications, and Software Engineering.

Therefore, studying Information Technology equips students with foundational knowledge in natural sciences, basic knowledge such as computer networks, information systems, programming, software, etc. In addition, honing soft skills is also crucial and directly impacts the future career of an IT student; this is also a key criterion for choosing a university for those wishing to pursue this field.
