Spread the message of togetherness with Bonding Day.

“Bonding Day” is the most anticipated event of the year for students of Broward College, Vietnam-American College, BTEC program, due to its surprising, lively, and playful team-building games.

What made Bonding Day special was that it was organized by the students themselves, with the support of faculty and staff from the university's Student Services office. Activities such as communication, information sharing, Q&A sessions, pre-departure meetings, emergency response training, and first aid were all conducted entirely by and for the students. More than just a typical field trip, Bonding Day also served to connect students from three different programs and provided an excellent practical training environment for prospective candidates of the Vietnam-America College Student Association – BTEC and Broward College programs.

            The people behind Bonding Day 2015 were none other than the wild and energetic college students.

To achieve this amazing feat, Bonding Day's first challenge was to attract a large number of new friends to participate in a completely unexpected and unplanned experience. Gradually, Bonding Day revealed countless strict "rules" to ensure the safety of the large group, while also dividing close-knit groups of friends into racing teams with many new friends… After nearly two months of continuous work, through many efforts and memorable moments, Viet My College, BTEC, and Broward College enjoyed an explosive and memorable team-building event worthy of everyone's efforts.

This year's games took place on Vung Tau beach. A seemingly familiar destination, yet it held many surprises thanks to the organizers' clever game arrangement. Participants were divided into five teams and freed to express their team's identity with flags and unique names. The chosen names included "Banh Beo," "Gao," "Zeus," "Hades," and "Fire," reflecting the diverse and playful nature of our students.

And then came the explosion of joy with a series of exhausting team activities on the beach. Bonding Day was jokingly called the "dirty day" when participants were asked to collect pearls from flour with their mouths, dig burrows in the sand to crawl through, roll around on the beach to build mermaids, and then run around the resort solving puzzles and overcoming challenges from grumpy gods. The challenges of the day were designed to test and stretch the endurance of young people through a series of games, both intellectual and physical, but at the same time, there were plenty of moments of uproarious laughter.

Sharing her thoughts on the Bonding Day event, Ms. Bui Thi Phuong Tram – a member of the student activities team at the school – said, “Each of us has our own safe space. It’s where we feel comfortable working, living, and sharing emotions with loved ones and familiar places. Safety is a good feeling, but an overly strong sense of security can make us hesitant to leave it. Bonding Day was created to connect students and give them a wonderful experience by helping them break free from their own comfort zones. Just like the meaning of student life, we constantly seek new experiences, constantly connect to enrich our lives, and equip ourselves for the future.” Not only were the students enthusiastic, but the teachers also eagerly participated in Bonding Day 2015. The close and friendly relationship between teachers and students is a beautiful characteristic of the teacher-student relationship at Viet My School.

Along with the traditional Bonding Day event, students are ready at the starting line with great motivation, welcoming an explosive and groundbreaking academic year.
