The Viet My – Success Program (Part 1): “9x Entrepreneurship – Leaving the City for the Forest” is a special collaboration between Viet My College and Hilly Garden Da Lat on September 6, 2022, at the 6th floor – Trung Son Campus, Viet My College.
With over 200 events organized since her student days and her dedication to student activities at Viet My College, Linh Vu has worked behind the scenes, coordinating programs from the backstage and on stage. From initial awkwardness, she gradually became more professional, meticulous, and refined each day through failures, hardships, sweat, and tears. It is precisely this dedication and meticulousness that has led Hilly Garden Da Lat – Founder Linh Vu – to its current achievements and its continued pursuit of a brighter future.
The talk show "9x Entrepreneurship - Leaving the City for the Countryside," though brief, provided abundant inspiration for students on their academic and future paths. Let's take a look at some of the most frequently asked questions and listen to Linh Vu's sharing.
What skills do students need to cultivate in order to confidently start their own businesses? What steps should they take to acquire those skills?
Linh Vu: For me, studying at college or university isn't just about attending classes every day; it involves many other crucial factors. First, you must be proactive in your studies, actively researching areas you're interested in, always asking questions, identifying problems, and finding ways to solve those questions.
I enjoy being proactive, so I tackled those problems by participating in projects and activities at Viet My College, where I could immediately apply the knowledge I'd learned, where I had the right to do, experiment, and make mistakes, completely free of charge without paying any 'price'.
What are the mindset and preparation steps needed for starting a business?
Linh Vu: First, I spent 2-3 months researching and compiling the knowledge and skills I needed to prepare for starting and developing a small business. Then I began researching and gradually defining the business model I would pursue, explaining why I chose those models. The final two steps, and the most difficult ones, were creating a detailed plan and raising capital.
Regarding entrepreneurial thinking, a truly sincere piece of advice is that we shouldn't assume everything will go smoothly, that our plans will always unfold exactly as we want. The journey will always involve unforeseen events and constant changes from external factors. Therefore, it's essential to maintain a cool, clear head, have a backup plan for everything, and always carefully research before undertaking anything important.
During the most difficult times, when you feel like giving up, how do you feel, and what do you do to overcome those feelings?
Linh Vu: There were times when all the difficulties and problems came crashing down on me at once, leaving me unable to cope. Those days dragged on endlessly; I couldn't sleep well, and sometimes I was drowning in tears. But looking back now, I feel incredibly grateful that those setbacks helped me find a much better path, shaping me into the person I am today. The hardships, the discomfort, the challenges… all of them motivated me to step out of my comfort zone, helping me break through obstacles and become stronger and more successful.

The journey of building and developing a career is a cyclical, ever-evolving process. Along the way, we sometimes choose forks in the road, where we have to start over, retracing our steps from where we started. However, our current knowledge, skills, and abilities are no longer at that initial point; they are at a higher level. And so, the career journey continues to evolve, and we grow stronger.
