A conversation with Vietnamese-American students.

During the recent Open Day program: “Choosing the Right Major – Achieving Solid Success,” many of you were probably impressed by the four students, Tien Hien, Dinh Phuc, Diem Uyen, and Phuong Anh, representing the outstanding majors at Viet My College, who shared fascinating experiences and future plans. Let's find out more about their stories!

Tien Hien: "Choosing Viet My was the right decision."“

Throughout her studies at the university, Tien Hien – a final-year student majoring in Business English Translation – has gained the confidence to communicate fluently in English. Proof of this is that she is currently entrusted with leading many tours for tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City. This is a remarkable achievement, not only providing her with a good income but also helping her gain practical experience. Regarding this, Hien shared: “The teachers at Viet My are very dedicated to education. Their teaching methods always make students feel engaged. Instead of traditional teaching methods, classes here are organized in the most relaxed way. Classes can even be held in parks or any place frequented by tourists.” Besides the joys of studying, Hien also shared some interesting and somewhat haunting memories. ”For the Business English Translation major, the assignments involve going out and filming video clips with foreigners to practice translation skills,” Hien shared. She also added that she frequently has to give presentations under very tight deadlines. Although it's quite demanding, Hien understands that this is very beneficial for her to develop confidence and public speaking skills.

Dinh Phuc: "My English has improved significantly."“

Sharing his pride after studying at Viet My, Dinh Phuc, a second-year BTEC Hotel Management student, has clearly felt his progress in using English and confidently communicating with crowds. “Through subjects like Customer Service, I had the opportunity to intern at the Golden Gate restaurant chain. There, I was guided by senior staff on skills, especially how to serve customers beyond their expectations,” Dinh Phuc shared about the valuable lessons he gained from these practical internship opportunities. This is one of the important factors that helps Phuc become more confident and assertive in his future career path in the hotel and restaurant industry. Alongside the joys, of course, Phuc also encountered some difficulties. "The most challenging thing for those studying hospitality is always having to do things right. Right here means right according to industry standards. For example, you have to be punctual when you start school, and your uniform must be up to standard..."“

Phuong Anh: “Within two years, I have successfully organized two events.”

Phuong Anh, a second-year Public Relations student, shared interesting and proud insights about her journey at Viet My. “Right from my first year, I did an internship in Digital Marketing at The Body Shop cosmetics company. Over the course of two years, my friends and I successfully organized two events. Although it was incredibly demanding and involved a lot of work, both my friends and I really enjoyed it.” Proud of her experiences as a Public Relations student at Viet My, Phuong Anh didn't forget to “call on” anyone who enjoys event planning, meeting and interacting with celebrities…to “join Phuong Anh’s team.” “Even though we had to stay up late to meet deadlines, in return, we gained lasting relationships with clients. That’s the trade-off in this field,” Phuong Anh shared, enthusiastically emphasizing the sacrifices we have to make to live our passion in Public Relations.

Diem Uyen: "I'm sure I'll graduate with honors."“

Many people will likely be impressed by Diem Uyen, a final-year student who has earned a rather impressive salary after successfully working in sales. Despite dedicating considerable time to her work, Uyen remains confident that she will graduate with honors, even jokingly asking if she failed any subjects. “Honestly, I received a lot of support from the lecturers. They are experienced and have many connections. Why don’t we take advantage of those resources?” Uyen shared. “The lecturers at Viet My University use social media a lot, so if you have questions or need clarification, you can contact them via social media, email, or meet them in person at the office.” However, despite her confidence, Diem Uyen still feels apprehensive when she hears the word “assignment.” For Uyen, assignments have been quite challenging. "Every four months, I feel like I'm about to end up in the hospital," Uyen jokingly shared. Despite the hardship, Uyen didn't forget to mention the wonderful things assignments bring: "Through assignments, you'll become more confident in sharing ideas with others, learn how to search for and present information, and especially learn how to manage your time better.".
