[OPEN DAY 1] Lunar New Year Festival: First Round of Admissions for Design Programs

On the morning of February 24, 2024, the Design Department successfully organized Open Day #1: The Lantern Festival. The event offered participants exciting experiences related to Vietnamese culture, such as receiving lucky calligraphy, group painting, and more.

With a focus on green, environmentally friendly, and sustainable design, the Faculty of Design concluded the 2023 academic year successfully. The students' design projects became increasingly refined and sophisticated, each reflecting the unique personality of the individual, creating a Faculty of Design with many distinctive features while remaining aligned with the proposed green future theme.

To usher in a prosperous Year of the Dragon and build upon past achievements, the Faculty of Design kicked off the year with an exciting Open Day – the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first lunar month. This event marked the beginning of a series of interactive events between the Faculty of Design, its alumni, current students, and prospective students. The event offered a variety of engaging activities to foster connections between students, faculty, and staff of the Faculty of Design.

Start the new year with a calligraphy reading session with Mrs. Thanh Huong, the calligrapher.

Nothing is more beautiful at the New Year than calligraphic blessings for new beginnings and new journeys. With the "New Year's Calligraphy" activity led by Ms. Thanh Huong, students of the Design Faculty have the opportunity to connect with Vietnamese cultural identity more closely than ever before.

The students were given best wishes and blessings as a message for a bright future ahead of them. Each lucky calligraphy piece is a wish for good fortune and success, just like the flowing ink strokes on traditional Vietnamese dó paper.

Group painting to foster team spirit.

There's a saying, "If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together." On the road ahead, there will be times when you have to walk alone, but it will be difficult to go far if you can't connect with the group around you.

The group painting activity at the event aims to send a sincere piece of advice to young people before they enter society: Let's work together, let's foster a team spirit so that the group can achieve even greater results. The brushstrokes and lines each of you creates will form an impressive overall picture, a combination of distinct personalities that will blend together perfectly.

The graduation exhibition aims to build upon the legacy of those who came before.

In life, we always have companions, those who came before us and those who come after us. Today, you may be the younger generation, but in the future, you will be the ones sharing your experience with those who follow. Appreciating what you have and learning from that experience is a rich source of knowledge.

The exhibition provided Design Department students with a comprehensive overview of their current capabilities and future potential. The exhibition also served as encouragement for them. “"You can do it, there's always a way for your efforts.".

Mini-Talk provides a stepping stone to shaping your personal and career path in the design profession.

Mini-talks are informal conversations between new and returning students, as well as faculty members, to facilitate interaction and exchange of ideas related to the field, as well as address any questions students may have about their future career paths.

Minh Luan and Minh Truong are two former students who recently completed their graduation projects in the 2023 academic year. They are also among the few graduates who have already found their first jobs. Minh Luan and Minh Truong shared that writing... A concise CV, focusing on essential and relevant information, along with a portrait photo taken facing the camera, are advantages in making a good impression on recruiters.

In addition, the presentation by Master Phan Thanh Son, Deputy Head of the Design Department, helped participants focus more on personal branding, one of the important factors when entering the industry.

Building a personal brand is similar to building a brand for a company; it's about showcasing positive values that benefit the community. Therefore, building a personal brand means creating beautiful, positive values that highlight one's strengths, from resumes (CVs) and portfolios to clothing, demeanor, and speech. These will be the channels through which you can showcase yourself more clearly to potential employers.

The Open Day #1 – Lunar New Year Festival concluded in a warm and connected atmosphere, bridging the old and the new, marking the end and beginning of a new journey in the Year of the Dragon for the Faculty of Design. We hope that in the future, the Faculty of Design can welcome even more students to participate in exciting and professional design activities!
