12th grade students at Ly Thuong Kiet High School are enthusiastic about the program "Understanding Yourself - Understanding Your Profession, Brightening Your Future".“
Choosing a university and major is never easy for 12th-grade students, as it marks a crucial milestone in their career choices and future aspirations. To provide students with comprehensive information about labor market trends and changing workforce demands in various professions during the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the Ho Chi Minh City Career Guidance Center, in collaboration with universities and colleges, is organizing the "Understanding Yourself – Understanding Your Career, Shaping Your Future" program for graduating high school students starting December 4th, 2017.
Choosing a school and a major in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
On the morning of December 4th, 2017, the program "Understanding Yourself - Understanding Your Profession, Brightening Your Future" visited Ly Thuong Kiet High School in Tam Thoi Thon commune, Hoc Mon district. Here, over 600 12th-grade students received insights from the principals of various schools, including Viet My College, Saigon University, Binh Duong University of Economics and Technology (BETU), FPT University, and others, regarding predictions for changes in the labor market in the era of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution.

Numerous studies and predictions suggest that the Fourth Industrial Revolution will truly transform the world, ushering in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Machine Learning, and more. The rapid development of science and technology will fundamentally change the structure and trends of employer demand in the future labor market. The crucial challenge for students born in 2000 will not only be deciding on a major or profession to avoid unemployment, but also learning how to avoid being left behind when robots replace humans.

Faced with these challenges, the program organizers advised students to truly understand what they need, want, and are capable of. In addition, 12th-grade students should take the time to thoroughly research their chosen majors as well as current technological and information trends worldwide. Mr. Mai Duc Toan – Director of Admissions at Viet My College shared, “…Global career trends and staffing needs will change dramatically, but it's crucial that students truly understand what they want, their strengths and weaknesses, and whether they can pursue their chosen field of study. More importantly, they need to equip themselves with life skills that robots can never possess – that is the key to success.…”
During the two-hour session, the students from Ly Thuong Kiet High School truly surprised the organizing committee with numerous hands raised to share their thoughts and aspirations, and to ask questions about career paths. They demonstrated seriousness in their studies, as well as the anxieties and obstacles they faced when making crucial career choices.

In particular, 12th-grade students at Ly Thuong Kiet High School showed great interest in the language and translation/interpretation field, especially English translation, Japanese translation, and the BTEC International College program at Viet My College. Responding to these questions, Mr. Mai Duc Toan shared, “…For the English Translation and Japanese Translation (Economic and Commercial) programs, students will be equipped with and honed in translation and interpretation skills to excel in international environments. Regarding the BTEC International College program, it follows British standards and is accredited annually by Pearson. Upon graduation, students will receive a dual degree: a regular college diploma and a BTEC International College diploma recognized by Pearson. Quality and teaching philosophy are what set Viet My College apart.…”
