Ho Chi Minh City, July 2nd, 2025 – Amidst the vibrant atmosphere of the creative industry, news has made a big impact: Three students from Viet My College – Nguyen Thanh Phong, Vo Nguyen Duy Quan, and Luong Hoang Phuc (PQP Team) – have successfully won one of the prestigious awards at the “Reimagined” Bootcamp, part of the SCGP Packaging Speak Out 2025 international packaging design competition. This success is not only a source of pride for the school, but also a powerful statement about the talent, courage, and vision of the young generation of Vietnamese designers, ready to reshape the future of the packaging industry towards greater sustainability and creativity.
The Competition Context – When Creativity is Challenged
In the context of a global economy facing significant environmental challenges and resource depletion, the role of packaging has gone far beyond simply protecting products. Today, packaging is a brand ambassador, a marketing tool, and, most importantly, a crucial link in the circular economy. Recognizing this trend, SCGP Packaging Speak Out has become one of the most prestigious and anticipated competitions in the young Asian design community.
Organized by SCGP, one of the world's leading integrated packaging solutions corporations, the competition is more than just a platform for discovering groundbreaking ideas. It's a comprehensive ecosystem where young talents are nurtured, trained, and connected with leading experts. With the theme "Reimagined," SCGP Packaging Speak Out 2025 posed an ambitious challenge: young designers had to completely rethink the concept of packaging – from materials and production processes to user experience and the product's post-use lifecycle.
The “Reimagined” Bootcamp is considered the most intense and prestigious competition round. This isn't a place where contestants simply submit their entries and wait for results. Throughout a week of intense competition, the best teams live, work, and compete under immense pressure. They participate in in-depth workshops on sustainable materials, human-centered design, advanced printing techniques, and brand storytelling strategies through packaging. They receive direct mentorship from creative directors, R&D experts, and marketing directors from SCGP, as well as major partner brands. Each day is a challenge, and each challenge is an opportunity to transform and refine their ideas. It is in this high-pressure yet incredibly fertile environment that the most talented raw gems have the chance to be polished and shine.

PQP Team – The Perfect Combination and a Journey Full of Determination
Among hundreds of talented teams, the PQP Team from Viet My College emerged as a phenomenon. The name PQP, an abbreviation of Phong, Quan, and Phuc, demonstrated teamwork from the very beginning. Their success didn't come from one outstanding individual, but from the synergy of three personalities and three strengths that complemented each other perfectly.
The team leader, known for his sharp strategic thinking and in-depth research skills, laid the foundation for the project, analyzed the market, identified the core problem, and outlined a clear roadmap for the entire team to follow. Vo Nguyen Duy Quan, in his role as the art director, is the visual soul of the team. Quan possesses a refined aesthetic sense, excellent sketching and illustration skills, transforming Phong's dry strategic ideas into emotionally resonant images. The final piece of the puzzle, Luong Hoang Phuc, is an expert in engineering and materials. Phuc has a particular passion for sustainable packaging solutions, understands structure and production processes, and is always exploring new environmentally friendly materials.
Before attending the Bootcamp, the PQP Team spent over three months researching and developing their initial idea. They identified a major problem in Vietnam's agricultural industry: despite high product quality, packaging was often monotonous, lacking creativity and environmental friendliness, thus reducing competitiveness in the international market. From this, a bold idea was born: designing a line of "reimagined" packaging for premium mooncakes.
Their journey was far from smooth. There were times when the team hit dead ends, heated debates about design direction, and sleepless nights spent perfecting mock-ups. But it was their never-give-up spirit, mutual respect, and shared goal that helped them overcome everything. They were not just a competition team; they had become brothers united by a common ideal.

The Role of the Launchpad – Viet My College
The success of the PQP Team is not a coincidence, but the result of a well-structured training process and a learning environment that encourages creativity. At Viet My College, the Graphic Design program is always guided by the philosophy of "Project-Based Learning." Students don't learn theory but participate in real-world projects from their early years.
The school has invested heavily in workshops, high-configuration computer labs, and a library of sample materials, creating the best conditions for students to realize their ideas. The faculty, many of whom are also professional designers working in the industry, act as mentors, inspiring and connecting students with businesses and prestigious competitions. It is through course projects and rigorous project defenses that the teamwork spirit and problem-solving skills of the PQP Team are honed.

What does the future hold for Vietnam's packaging design industry?
The victory of the PQP Team at SCGP Packaging Speak Out 2025 has significance beyond the scope of a competition. It is a positive signal, a powerful boost for an entire generation of young designers. It proves that Vietnamese designers are fully capable of competing on equal footing internationally, especially in the field of sustainable design – an inevitable trend of the future.
This success also opens up an important dialogue for Vietnamese businesses, especially those in the industry. It's time for more serious and systematic investment in packaging, viewing it as an integral part of brand development strategy and a core competitive advantage.
For Nguyen Thanh Phong, Vo Nguyen Duy Quan, and Luong Hoang Phuc, this award is just the beginning. The doors to the future are wide open, offering job opportunities at large corporations, collaboration offers, and even the chance to start their own businesses with their projects. But more importantly, they have become a vibrant source of inspiration for thousands of other design students nationwide: daring to dream big, daring to take risks, and daring to "reimagine" to create better values for the community and society.
