There have been many changes in the mindset of 12th-grade students in the Mekong Delta regarding their choice of majors and universities during the 2018 school year. This is the result of statistics from over 1,000 students and parents who visited and received career counseling at the Viet My College booth during the Career Counseling, Admissions and Guidance Fair held in Can Tho on March 17th and 18th, 2018.
Overall, the teachers at the Viet My College (APC) booth, through advising and listening to the aspirations of the students, showed that the 80% candidates participating in the counseling session were completely proactive in choosing their careers and were truly serious about investing in their future professions.
Furthermore, at the event, the 80% students participating in the career counseling showed serious interest in information about job opportunities and career development trends. In particular, this year's 12th-grade students from the Western region showed interest in business partnership programs and advanced postgraduate training programs to choose the most suitable subject area and major for themselves.

Sharing her reasons for choosing marketing, Quynh Thi Giau (Chau Phu, An Giang) revealed that she inherited business genes from her family's trading tradition since childhood. After learning more about the field, she felt it was a good fit for her and decided to choose marketing as her university entrance exam goal this year.

Giàu discovered her passion thanks to her family's tradition of trading and business.

Coming from Tra Vinh, Nguyen Thuy Vi, who loves business administration, visited the APC booth and received more detailed advice from teachers about career opportunities and a suitable educational environment. This further strengthened her confidence in her decision.
Trinh Hong Anh, a student from Bac Lieu Specialized High School, is another example of someone who, despite her family's guidance towards Pharmacy, remains determined to pursue Information Technology Systems Management. She believes that her passion and hard work in the upcoming exam will change her parents' minds and give her more support.

Teacher Phan Quang Nghia (Can Tho) and his students participated in the program with the hope of creating more opportunities to help them understand different professions and choose their career paths. He also shared: "...In Throughout the learning process, the teachers themselves always encouraged students to determine their career path based on their passions and interests, considering feedback from family, siblings, or teachers as merely suggestions. Because only with passion can students persevere in their chosen profession, no matter how the times change.’

Nguyen Thi Yen (Can Tho) shared her perspective on choosing a major based not only on personal interests but also on future career trends. ‘"I enjoy learning English and researching the field of restaurant and hotel management through various media outlets, but I also pay attention to the future workforce needs of this sector to make informed and appropriate decisions for myself."’

After receiving advice from her teachers, Nguyen Thi Gia Linh (Thot Not - Can Tho) excitedly shared:‘"...Thanks to the helpful and meaningful information from the advisors at the booth, I have gained a better understanding of the service management field and have also made my own decision for the upcoming exam."’

Choosing a major and a university is never easy for any high school senior. Whether that decision stems from passion, interest, or family guidance, each student must seriously invest in their studies, proactively chart their own path, and be ready to embrace the exciting opportunities and challenges that await them.
